cultural life [foto] a classic concert

Imola is a very lively town which can satisfy any cultural curiosity. Music lovers are probably the most privileged considering the large number of groups, choruses and associations which exist: about 60 modern music groups, two Municipal Music schools (Vassura Baroncini and Ca' Vaina), a Piano Academy which helps to perfection young international talents under the guide and supervision of the most renown maestros, a Town Wind Band which will soon celebrate its 180th anniversary, and the popular group of "Folkoristico Canterini e Danzerini Romagnoli - of Turibio Baruzzi (typical Folk singers and dancers), who since 1927 have kept vivid the traditional song and dance of the Romagna Region. There isn't just music in Imola considering the number and variety of cultural associations which cover such a wide range of interests: dance courses, art, photography, theatre.and there is also "Università Aperta"- open university courses for those who wish to return to study. For film lovers there are a variety of festivals such as in summer, in the enchanting courtyard of the fortress , "Films under the Stars"and in autumn Corto Imola Festival, a national and international short film festival, with all the newest showings. Finally one cannot forget the highly popular Theatre Season, from October to March. A stop in the Biblioteca Comunale (Library), is not just a place to study but also a place where one can take a look at the newspapers or the latest new books, or young children for sure will have fun with a book, a game, or a video in Casa Piani, the new children's library. Of course the porticos of Imola remain the meeting point of most people, weather young or old. Here they decide how to continue their evening either at the cinema, in the disco, or sitting comfortably at a table of one of the many pubs..
