On the outskirts of Imola commences a land of gullies and forests, chestnut groves, streams and rivers: a stunning area of contrasts. Either on foot, by mountain bike or by horse, nature lovers can enjoy a wealth of trails crossing the Santerno Valley in every direction. Roads, trails, footpaths connect the nearby valleys of the Senio, Sellustra or the Sillaro. For those who prefer travelling by car, there are two beautiful scenic roads which pass over the ridges and lead to Fontanelice, the heart of the Santerno Valley, to Casola Valsenio or to Castel San Pietro Terme. Mountain lovers will find worthwile venturing off along the trails of the Santerno Valley and the Montanara Road, which lead to the borders with the Tuscany Region, not far from Firenzuola
