The Monte Battaglia and Molino della Caspa Ring
L’Anello di Monte Battaglia e del Molino della Caspa
Itinerary: Fontanelice – crossroad S.P. Casolana – Monte Battaglia – Molino della caspa – Torre di Fornione – Fontanelice.
The trail unwinds along emerging sandstones which give this area a wavy characteristic. The cultivated areas are alternated with durmast woods. From Fontanelice you follow the old “Casolana” road, and then go up the eastern side of the valley where you’ll cross the new S.P. Casolana (provincial Road). You follow this road towards the Passo del Prugno, where you’ll notice on the right a white dirt trail which leads up to Monte Battaglia.
After this hill you follow the directions for Valmaggiore for about 1 km. and then you’ll take a right turning for Briole and the Molino della Caspa, on the Gaggio Stream.
The S.C.(Comunity Road) goes up to the left and goes along the antique Torre di Fornione (Fornione Tower). From here along the paved road you go down to the S.S. Montanara and then to Fontanelice.
